Mother Monkey Refuses to Breastfeed – Baby Becomes Thin and Sick

In the quiet corner of the sanctuary, a heartbreaking scene unfolds. A tiny newborn monkey, barely days old, lies weak and trembling on a soft cloth. His small body is fragile, bones visible under his thin skin. The reason behind his suffering? His mother has refused to breastfeed him.

At first, the caretakers thought the mother monkey was simply overwhelmed—perhaps it was her first baby, and she didn’t know what to do. But as the hours turned into days, it became clear: she was rejecting her baby. She pushed him away when he tried to get close, and no matter how hungry or cold he cried, she turned her back.

The little one, desperate for warmth and nourishment, cried out softly, his tiny voice barely audible. With no mother’s milk to feed on, his body weakened rapidly. He could barely lift his head, and his once-bright eyes now looked dull and lifeless.

Seeing this, the rescue team decided to intervene. They gently picked up the baby and tried to offer him formula milk through a small syringe. At first, he was too weak to suck, but with patience and care, he managed to take in a few drops. Slowly, over time, his strength began to return.

Even so, the road to recovery is long. Without his mother’s natural care and milk, the baby is at high risk of illness and slow development. The volunteers now keep him warm with soft blankets and heaters and feed him every two hours to keep him alive.

It’s a sad reality in some monkey families—sometimes, the mother refuses her baby. But thanks to kind humans and rescue workers, this little one still has a fighting chance. His story reminds us how delicate and vulnerable newborn monkeys are, and how every bit of love and care can mean the difference between life and death.
