The house felt unusually quiet, and Baby Monkey Luci could sense that something was different. Usually, when she woke up from her nap, she would hear soft footsteps, gentle humming, or the comforting voice of Mom nearby. But today, when Luci opened her sleepy little eyes, there was only silence.
She slowly sat up, rubbing her tiny face with both hands. Her fluffy hair was messy, and her big round eyes searched the room. “Mom?” she softly called, her small voice echoing slightly in the quiet space. There was no answer.
Luci climbed down carefully and began looking around. She checked her favorite corner where she usually drinks milk. She peeked behind the curtain where she sometimes plays hide and seek. She even looked near Baby Monkey Cici’s little bed. But Mom was nowhere to be seen.
Her tiny heart started to beat faster. Luci’s lower lip trembled, and her eyes began to shine with tears. She walked toward the doorway and held onto the frame, staring down the hallway. “Mom… where are you?” she cried softly.
Baby Monkey Cici noticed Luci’s emotional state and hurried over. Cici gently touched Luci’s shoulder, trying to comfort her. But Luci was too overwhelmed. She shook her head, her tears now slowly rolling down her cheeks. She wasn’t just looking for anyone — she was looking for Mom.
The playful energy Luci usually had was completely gone. Instead of jumping and laughing, she moved slowly, her little feet dragging across the floor. Every small sound made her turn quickly, hoping it would be Mom returning. Each time it wasn’t, her face fell again.
She sat down in the middle of the room, hugging her tiny knees to her chest. Her soft cries filled the air. She felt small, lonely, and unsure. In that moment, all she wanted was the warmth of Mom’s arms and the gentle touch that made everything feel safe.
Then suddenly — footsteps.
Luci froze. She lifted her head, her teary eyes wide with hope. The sound grew closer. And then she saw her — Mom standing at the end of the hallway.
In an instant, Luci jumped up and ran as fast as her tiny legs could carry her. “Mom!” she cried, her voice full of emotion. She leaped into Mom’s arms, holding on tightly as if she never wanted to let go.
Mom hugged her close, gently wiping away her tears and whispering soothing words. Luci’s sadness melted into relief. Her heart felt whole again.
Even a short moment without Mom felt so big to little Luci. But in the end, love always brings her back to where she belongs — safe, warm, and happy. 🐒💔
