Bath time is usually full of little protests, tiny splashes, and dramatic faces from Baby Monkey Cici. But today… something different happened.
She was sitting in the warm water, looking slightly suspicious as usual. Her tiny hands rested on the edge of the tub, and her fur was soaked flat against her small body. Every time I poured water gently over her back, she would give me that classic “why are you doing this?” expression.
I smiled and softly said, “Cici, are you okay?”
Normally, she would just blink at me or make a random baby sound.
But this time…
She looked straight at me.
Right into my eyes.
And she made a clear little sound — “Eh!”
Not a cry. Not a complaint. It sounded exactly like an answer.
I froze for a second. “Oh? You’re okay?” I asked again, half laughing.
She blinked… then made another small sound. “Ah!”
It felt like a real conversation.
Water dripped from her tiny chin as she continued staring at me, as if she understood every word. I gently rubbed a little soap onto her arm and said, “You don’t like bath time, huh?”
She responded again — a soft but very clear noise. Almost like she was explaining her feelings.
I couldn’t stop smiling. It truly felt like she was talking back.
Every time I spoke, she answered with her own little sound. Her expressions changed too — sometimes serious, sometimes curious. At one point, she even tilted her head slightly, like she was listening carefully before replying.
Even while rinsing the soap off, I kept talking to her.
“You’re being so brave.”
She answered.
“You’ll be clean and fluffy soon.”
Another tiny response.
It wasn’t just random baby noises. The timing felt perfect. Like she was waiting for her turn to speak.
By the end of the bath, I was laughing softly. Who knew bath time could turn into a full conversation?
When I wrapped her in the towel, she looked up at me again. I whispered, “Did you really answer me?”
She made one last soft little sound and rested her head against my hand.
Maybe it was just baby monkey sounds.
Or maybe…
