Today was another gentle reminder of just how baby-like Baby Monkey Cici really is. Even though she’s growing more curious and playful every day, there’s one thing that brings her instant comfort—a pacifier. The moment she saw it, her eyes lit up with recognition, and her tiny body relaxed as if she already knew everything was going to be okay.
At first, Cici reached for the pacifier carefully, holding it in her little hands and turning it around as she inspected it. She studied the shape, touched it with her fingers, and then brought it slowly to her mouth. The second she latched on, the change was immediate. Her shoulders dropped, her breathing slowed, and a soft, content sound escaped her lips.
The pacifier wasn’t just something to suck on—it was a source of comfort. Cici cuddled closer, curling her body into a small ball, pacifier gently moving as she sucked. Her eyes half-closed, blinking slowly, like she was drifting into a peaceful state. Watching her like this made my heart melt.
Every now and then, she would pull the pacifier out, look at it, and then put it back in again, just to make sure it was still there. If it slipped from her mouth, she quickly grabbed it, clearly not ready to let it go. It was adorable to see how attached she had become.
For a rescued baby monkey, comfort items are so important. They replace the warmth and reassurance of a mother’s presence. Today, the pacifier gave Cici that sense of safety. It helped her stay calm, especially during moments when she might otherwise feel unsure or fussy.
As she relaxed, she leaned against me, pacifier still in place, completely trusting. No stress. No fear. Just quiet comfort. These are the moments that show how much she’s healing, how safe she feels now.
By the end of the day, Cici was peaceful and sleepy, pacifier still gently bobbing with every breath. It’s amazing how such a small object can bring so much comfort to such a tiny soul.
